Job Summary

The Simmons Career Education Center (“CEC”) is seeking a temporary Career Coach to join its team for the Spring 2020 semester (approximately mid-January through May). This position will provide one-on-one coaching for undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumnae/i, participate in workshops for delivering coaching on a wide range of career development topics, and facilitate the development and communication of career resources and best practices. The CEC supports undergraduates, graduate students, and alumnae/i in developing the skills and knowledge for making informed career decisions.

Located in Boston's historic Fenway area, Simmons University is a private, non-sectarian institution that has prepared women for leadership in the world through transformative education that links passion with purpose since 1899. Today, Simmons serves nearly 2,000 students in a women-centered undergraduate program and nearly 5,000 students in coeducational graduate programs.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide individual career coaching to undergraduate and graduate students, and alumnae/i including career and industry exploration, assessments, job search strategies, interview preparation, networking skills, resume and cover letter critiques, and job negotiation skills;
  • Present and deliver career development workshops on a variety of topics and various formats;
  • Communicate and liaise with external constituents regarding student career development, on an as needed basis;
  • Maintain and update career coaching records and data in Handshake;
  • Provide assistance and back-up support to the Associate Director, Career Education Center, on career curriculum content, programming, and events;
  • Contribute to and participate in other CEC events, programs, and responsibilities as needed.


Qualifications
  • Master's degree in College Student Development, Counseling, Psychology or related field required;
  • Minimum two to five years of career coaching experience in higher education or similar setting preferred;
  • Experience with the development, implementation, and delivery of career-related programming and / or trainings:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of technology and willingness to use technology to deliver career programming and information;
  • Experience and enthusiasm for working with culturally diverse community and student members;
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills;
  • Occasional evening work will be required.

This is a temporary, full time (40hours/week) position that will be remote.
