Job Details

Sarah Lawrence invites applications for two guest faculty positions in Film History for the 2021-2022 school year. One position is full time (2 courses) in the fall, and one is full time (2/2) for the entire year. We are particularly interested in candidates teaching in one (or preferably more) of the following areas: queer cinema, feminist cinema, African-American or black diasporic cinemas, Middle Eastern Cinema, East or South Asian cinemas, and genre study (horror, comedy, the musical).

The application should include the following: cover letter, curriculum vitae, writing sample (article-length), three letters of recommendation, two sample syllabi, course proposals for both lecture and seminar format classes, and teaching evaluations.

Please note that Sarah Lawrence teaching is unique: faculty-teaching seminars at Sarah Lawrence are required to meet individually with students biweekly for “conference,” which entails guiding the student through an independent research project. Those teaching lectures will meet their students in smaller “group conference” sessions (c. 15 students at a time) biweekly.

Review of applications will begin on February 1 and will continue until successful candidates are chosen. Should the review of your qualifications result in a decision to pursue your candidacy, you will be contacted by email and/or telephone.
