Assistant Professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling (Probationary/Tenure Track)

The Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CACREP) program invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in a Master’s Level Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) Graduate program (CACREP).

St. Cloud State University’s CMHC faculty members are seeking an Assistant Professor in Counselor Education to join our team. The current faculty welcomes individuals who are excited to work in a collaborative team-based environment. The CMHC program provides students with training opportunities in the new state of the art training clinic for the School of Health and Human Services (SHHS). The CMHC program faculty have successfully completed an 8-year accreditation and developed and implemented a new team-based curriculum utilizing Integrative Course Design (ICD) by Dee Fink. We have long-standing partnerships with multiple professional communities and are known for a genuine commitment to diversity and innovation. The CMHC program has a strong record with interdisciplinary initiatives to better support wellness initiatives, integrated behavioral health, 1st year nursing students, and supporting student parents who participate with our on campus child care center. Primary responsibilities include teaching graduate courses in CACREP accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s program, with opportunities to teach at the undergraduate level and/or related graduate programs. Strong or successful applicants will have a background in teaching, supervision, and research in the area of Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Service to the department, School of Health and Human Services, and St. Cloud State University will also be required.

Required Qualifications

• Licensed as an LPC/LPCC or license eligible in the State of Minnesota here.
• Doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program. ABD will be considered if degree is conferred by August 16th, 2021.
• Demonstrate a commitment to Counselor Education Identity\
• Evidence of demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Evidence of multicultural and social justice worldview as evidenced by a professional interest in, experience working with, and/or advocating for underserved populations.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: Group Work, Multicultural Counseling, Prevention/Wellness, Research methods/design, Trauma and Clinical Supervision.
• Training in Evidence Based Trauma Models, Motivational
• Interviewing Skills at both the Individual and Group level, EMDR, DBT, or certifications in any clinical specialty area (e.g., Play Therapy, Narrative, CBT, etc.).
• Experience with team-based learning and/or integrative course design principles.
