Marriage and Family Therapy Program Director

The MA in Marriage and Family Therapy program director will oversee the existing residential program, lead the program to COAMFTE accreditation, and develop and launch a hybrid program.

Bethel Seminary's St. Paul MFT program is known as a training program that develops whole and holy therapists.  The program offers a dedicated spiritual, personal, and professional formation track that utilizes reflective and active methods to develop a well-integrated self-of-the-therapist experience.  Students are shaped via their relationships with faculty, supervisors, and classmates, and the isomorphic process is utilized as a primary intervention.  Therefore, all faculty and supervisors participate in developing authentic relationships with students and allowing those relationships to be the catalyst for growth and transformation.  Students are required to examine their personal religious epistemologies and family of origin experiences in order to differentiate between their own understandings and lived experiences from others.' As students progress through the reorientation process, faculty and supervisors act as guides to shape the student experience toward integration, curiosity and engagement and away from compartmentalization, rigidity and isolation.  Students engage with the Intercultural Development Inventory assessment tool to track their growth and capacities to work well with a global and diverse client base.  Faculty and supervisors lead by example in issues of faith and science integration, biblical social justice, humility, curiosity, and dedication to the MFT discipline.  

The candidate is a member of the core MFT faculty and fills four broad roles:

• Program director/Administrative
• Teaching, Supervision, and Advising
• Research
• Practice and Service

The successful candidate will be dedicated to providing high quality service to Bethel University. S/he will exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical principles and will be committed to the tenets of Bethel University’s Mission and Vision. We seek a faculty member who demonstrates a commitment to biblical justice and possesses strong interpersonal and collaboration skills. 

Responsibilities

• Teaching marriage and family therapy graduate courses 
• Directing the MFT program 
• Acquiring COAMFTE accreditation for the face to face program while maintaining the unique strengths of the program
• Developing and launching a hybrid program 
• Supervising graduate marriage and family therapy practicum students 
• Maintaining some form of research in the field of family therapy and mental health counseling. 
• Providing service to the university and the field of marriage and family therapy through state, regional, and national associations.
