Location: Madison
Categories: Event Planning, Program Coordination, Office & Administrative Support, Other

Position Summary:

This position provides a wide variety of complex and high-level administrative support services to the School of Education Associate Deans (SoE) and program directors within the Dean's Office, working under the general supervision of the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Programs. An ideal candidate must be able to take initiative while exercising good judgment and discretion. Candidates must also have the ability to work in and contribute to an environment that is welcoming and inclusive of a diversity of people, perspectives, and lived experiences.

This individual often serves as a first point of contact for the Dean's Office, screening visitors and phone calls, responding efficiently and effectively, and serving as back-up to the Dean's Assistant. They will be privy to sensitive discussions at the Deans' level, and as such, must appropriately ensure confidentiality in all interactions. This position requires independent follow-up and resolution of issues and requests that do not require the Associate Deans' direct attention. The nature of these issues requires sound decision-making and an understanding of large decentralized organizations.

We are seeking a strong communicator with proven interpersonal skills, comfortable using a wide array of office productivity tools, with a track record of being able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. A successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced office environment, someone who is able to use their strong attention to detail to approach administrative tasks with a solutions-oriented mindset. Ideally, this individual will be able to balance tact and diplomacy while exhibiting a positive, patient, and customer service-oriented attitude in all interactions with visitors, faculty, and staff.
