Instructor - Accounting
The College of Business at Oregon State University invites applications for the position of Instructor. The Instructor will be appointed as a full-time (1.0 FTE), 9-month, fixed-term position to begin September 16, 2021. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered for this Instructor position, applicants must hold a Master’s Degree in a related field of study (e.g., Accounting, Finance, BIS, Law). Also, applicants must be able to provide evidence of teaching effectiveness in related college-level courses (e.g., Accounting, Finance, BIS courses) and have experience teaching tax courses at the college-level at an AACSB accredited accounting program (e.g., Entity Level Taxation, Individual Taxation, Advanced Taxation). Further, applicants must have experience successfully coordinating major student organizations or major student experiential learning initiatives and a demonstrable commitment to actively promoting and enhancing an equitable, inclusive, diverse, and socially just organizational culture. Preferred qualifications include a terminal degree in a related field, such as a PhD, D.B.A or J.D, evidence of teaching excellence in related college-level courses (e.g., Accounting, Finance, BIS) and capability to achieve Academically Qualified status, as demonstrated by both peer-reviewed publications and other associated academic activities.
ABOUT THE SCHOOL: Oregon State University is on the quarter system. Fixed-term faculty members typically teach three or four sections each 10-week quarter across all three quarters in the academic year. The campus is located in Corvallis, OR, a community oriented college town in the beautiful Willamette Valley – with easy access to the recreational opportunities in the mountains and stunning ocean beaches. The College of Business moved into a new building which is a state of art technology facility.
POSITION DETAILS: This Instructor position will be appointed as a full-time (1.0 FTE), 9-month, fixed-term position to begin September 16, 2021. Full consideration date is 01/20/2021. Review of applications will begin on that date and will continue until the position is filled or by closing date of 3/31/2021, whichever comes first. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in the College of Business, which may include introductory accounting courses, upper division accounting courses, graduate-level accounting courses and other courses in the School of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems. Instruction, broadly conceived, includes classroom teaching and student evaluation; curriculum development; innovation in course delivery and design; participation in developing and conducting student assessments; and working to enhance undergraduate education and the use of new technologies for improvement of student learning. The successful candidate will also be expected to perform appropriate service that contributes to the School, College, University, and profession. Service likely will include oversight of major student organizations and/or experiential learning initiatives.
