The Mary and John Gray Library at Lamar University, Beaumont, TX, is seeking an innovative and motivated individual to serve as Library Instructor. The successful candidate will provide information literacy instruction in the library’s credit-bearing courses as well as in course-integrated library instruction sessions. The instructor will also work with the Head, Instructional Services and Assessment to promote and grow our information literacy program and on various library assessment projects.

This is a 12 month, non-tenure track faculty position.

Duties will include designing and delivering course-integrated session lesson plans, creating learning objects, assessing student learning outcomes, participating in the library’s credit-bearing information literacy courses, helping to create a library of re-usable lesson plans, assessments, and learning objects, collaborating with university faculty, staff, and students to promote and integrate information literacy into the broader university curricula, participating in the selection, implementation, and promotion of appropriate assessment tools to improve library services, and participating in the interpretation and communication of assessment data to a variety of library stakeholders.

The successful candidate will hold a master’s degree in Library or Information Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program and experience as an instructor in an academic library setting. We are looking for someone with strong organizational skills and an attention to detail, knowledge of current and emerging technologies and their application to academic library instruction, experience or demonstrated potential in online learning techniques, and experience or demonstrated potential in conducting assessment projects and communicating findings.
