The Yale Institute of Sacred Music, an interdisciplinary graduate center for the study and practice of sacred music, worship, and the related arts, invites applications for a post-doctoral associate position in Christian Music Studies. The subfield is open and can include ethnomusicology, music history, or music theory and is not limited by musical tradition or geography. Broad knowledge of the liturgical and theological contexts of sacred music is also expected.

Candidates must hold the Ph.D. or equivalent degree, earned since 2015, in a relevant discipline, and should have strong potential as an instructor. The successful candidate would typically teach two courses per year, along with some student advising, participation in ISM academic gatherings, and other service. Some team-teaching with other areas in the ISM is expected, and courses can be hosted in the Department of Music, Divinity School, and School of Music. Interdisciplinary collaborations with other departments and research centers at Yale are also welcomed.

A letter of application with curriculum vitae and three letters of reference should be submitted through Interfolio at http://apply.interfolio.com/82569. Review of applications will begin on February 15, 2021. The position will remain open until filled.

Yale University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity employer. Yale values diversity in its faculty, staff, and students and especially encourages applications from women, persons with disabilities, protected veterans, and underrepresented minorities.
