Lecturer in Graphic Information Technology

Location: Arizona State University – Polytechnic Campus

The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU) and The Polytechnic School (TPS) invites applicants for a faculty lecturer position in the Graphic Information Technology program, beginning in the fall 2021 semester. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and teaching curriculum in Motion Graphics and Visual Effects to a diverse body of students. This is a non-tenure track appointment with a fixed-term academic year contract. It is anticipated that the contract will be renewed annually subject to satisfactory performance.

 

The School seeks a candidate who has a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching that incorporates active learning, will share our passion for graphic communications education, and be effective in a collaborative environment. The candidate should possess a strong professional background and demonstrated experience related to teaching, training, or curriculum design. The candidate should be experienced in 3D Modeling, 2D/3D Animation, Image Manipulation, Motion Graphics and Video Compositing. Other responsibilities include working with student organizations, mentoring undergraduate and graduate projects, participating in course and program assessment, and engaging local industry associations affiliated with the program.

The Graphic Information Technology (GIT) program is one of the outstanding programs on the ASU Polytechnic campus. The GIT program educates undergraduate and graduate students to become industry leaders who develop and manage content through numerous communication and distribution modes. Through project-based learning, teamwork, and authentic client experiences, graduates are innovative problem solvers prepared for leading roles and entrepreneurship opportunities in the rapidly evolving graphics industry.

 

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

 

● Earned Master’s degree in a related area and demonstrated evidence of excellent teaching in one or more of the subject areas listed above

● Experience in industry standard software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud

 

Desired qualifications:

● Demonstrated evidence of excellence in higher education teaching experience

● Experience creating curriculum for face-to-face and/or online environment

● Five or more years of industry experience

● Strong skills in the use of Unity 3D, Unreal Engine 4, Autodesk Maya, Nuke, After Effects, or related software

● Strong skills in image manipulation, motion graphics and video compositing

● Bonus Skills:

○ working knowledge of SFX Houdini, Adobe Substance Suite

○ working knowledge of C#, JavaScript, UScript or similar
