Salary: $38,918

Mohawk Valley Community College is seeking a full-time Associate Business Advisor to work in the Mohawk Valley Small Business Development Center. The Associate Business Advisor is responsible for coordinating seminars and workshops, strengthening the Mohawk Valley Small Business Development Center’s relationships with the local small business community, and supporting the Center Director and Business Advisors. The successful candidate will provide information on tools to be successful to the local business community with an understanding of business ownership and experience. This position requires excellent communication skills including networking and speaking to large groups. Mohawk Valley Community College and the Mohawk Valley Small Business Development Center are committed to the success of the local small business community, and the Associate Business Advisor plays an important role in that mission, and assists the Director in coordinating seminars, workshops, and webinars on topics of interest to the business community.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assists business advisors in the development of business plans for client;
  • Plans and executes the Center’s social media postings and interfaces with the NY SBDC
    statewide social media team;
  • Advises clients with social media questions and provides assistance;
  • Assists in the design, development and presentation of business development workshops,
    seminars and courses that focus on the needs of clients;
  • Assists with the recruitment of SBDC clients and program participants;
  • Collaborates with partners that promote small business development;
  • Attends networking events in the community to develop and maintain strong
    collaborative relationships with funding and resource partners (representatives from
    banks, economic development agencies, and others);
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Small Business Development Center Regional
    Director.


Qualifications:


  • Associates degree in business-related field required; bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint with a strong attention to detail, required.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and direct mail (i.e. Constant Contact) software required.
  • Proven writing and communication skills and strong organizational skills, required.
