The University of Georgia is a research-intensive land-grant university located in Athens-Clarke County with strong research facilities in mass spectrometry, NMR, crystallography, fermentation, microscopy, bioinformatics and cell biology. Position Summary

The Department of Microbiology at the University of Georgia invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in Microbial Systems Biology, beginning August 1, 2021, at the level of Assistant Professor. There are outstanding opportunities for collaborations with faculty across our Life Sciences departments and our Complex Carbohydrate Research Center, and access to the Georgia Genomics and Bioinformatic Center, the Microscopy Core, and Advanced Computing Resources.

Additional Requirements

A PhD (or equivalent) in Microbiology or a related field with 1 or more years of postdoctoral experience is required at the time of appointment.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Competitive applicants will have a strong research record, demonstrate a well-developed research plan, and exhibit a commitment to teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels. We are especially interested in biologists who combine wet-bench experimentation with large-scale data to address fundamental questions in microbiology. Those questions may be related to inter-species community interactions, environmental response networks, metabolic flexibility, antimicrobial targets, or pathogenic interactions.
