The Department of Global Studies at University of California, Santa
Barbara seeks to appoint a tenure-track assistant professor whose
work focuses on issues of global conflict and violence, beginning
July 1, 2018. Apply by November 1, 2017 for primary consideration.
Seeking a scholar with broad historical and/or theoretical
background who can analyze complex issues of conflict and violence
in contexts that characterize the 21st century. Particularly
interested in applicants with expertise in several areas: conflict
over religion, ideology, ethnicity, environmental degradation and
natural resources, state violence, terrorism, mercenaries-non state
actors, genocide, and regional/civil wars. Position requires a PhD
at time of appointment. Please send cover letter detailing your
research interests, teaching philosophy and experience, and
relevant work in grants and administration. Application materials
should include your curriculum vitae, one writing sample (25-30
