Manages the day-to-day operations of a large university program or department, including the supervision of staff employees, student workers, programs or processes.Job Duties

  2. Manages fiscal activities, including procurement and budget analysis.
  3. Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.
  4. Prepares abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation.
  5. Creates and reviews reports of expenditures and activities.
  6. May administer grants and grant-related related communications, scholarships and other operations.
  7. Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.
  8. May serve as property custodian for the department.
  9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Bachelors and 1 year experience

Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None.

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred in public health, social science, social work and/or psychology with understanding of mental health. In lieu of an advanced degree, 3-5 years of relevant work experience is acceptable. Consideration will be given for leadership experience, volunteer work, internships or community service.

Experience:

Possesses, understands, and applies a comprehensive knowledge that crosses fields of specialization. Understands and uses effective management techniques. Develops understanding and skills to allow for completion of assignments that cross fields of specialization. Develops leadership and management skills. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4-year degree from a college of university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.

  • Experience in a similar position or a strong body of infographic work in a previous public health environments
  • Highly proficient in Canva, Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator
  • Knowledge and understanding of other software in Adobe’s Creative Cloud is preferable: After Effects, Premier, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash, & Lightroom


Job Duties:

  1. Organize and facilitate virtual and/or in-person training for community-based organizations on mental health, trauma informed care, substance use and wellness as they relate to HIV service provision for data driven story-telling
  2. Identify and work with community-based organizations for story-telling and infographics
  3. Plans and develops procedures for administering large or complex department or program in content and expertise
  4. Schedules technical assistance for data driven story-telling based on community-based organizational needs (Google Platform, Social Media, Video or Podcast Recording, PPT, Infographics, etc.)
  5. Partners and networks with SUSTAIN Center partners: UH GCSW, GLAAD and Precision
  6. Work with evaluation team to analyze data for public impact work and scholarship
  7. Prepares abstracts, research reports, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation.
  8. Creates and reviews evaluation and data reports for story-telling and infographic content by taking an infographic story document and mocking up sketches or wireframes for the infographic’s layout & visuals.
  9. Bringing those sketches or wireframes to life, using software and your own artistic skills to produce a finished infographic.
  10. Visualising data in innovative ways, teasing out the narrative that effectively tells the story and using Illustrator, PowerPoint and other software to communicate that story for community partners.
  11. Designing your own artistic and content creation workflow; looking for plug-ins, scripts, and software add-ons that can simplify and enhance the graphic design process.
  12. Brainstorming new ideas and concepts for clients and presenting the creative designs to community partners.
  13. Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.
  14. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Job Description: About the SUSTAIN Wellbeing Coordinating Center

The SUSTAIN Wellbeing COMPASS Coordinating Center exists to enhance HIV/AIDS prevention efforts by incorporating attention to the role of wellness, trauma, mental health, and substance use, and to increase HIV treatment engagement. Efforts are focused primarily in the Southern United States that have the highest rates of HIV/AIDS. The SUSTAIN Wellbeing COMPASS Coordinating Center works closely with the other two COMPASS Coordinating Centers (the COMPASS Capacity Building and Shared Knowledge Needs Coordinating Center and the COMPASS Awareness, Education and Anti-Stigma Campaign Needs Coordinating Center) to coordinate and synergize efforts, minimize redundancy, and ensure the efficient use of resources.

The work of the SUSTAIN Wellbeing COMPASS Coordinating Center will ultimately: (a) reduce new HIV infections through intensifying HIV prevention efforts in communities in the South where HIV is most heavily concentrated, and expand efforts to prevent HIV infection using a combination of effective, evidence-based approaches that tackle wellness, mental health, trauma, and substance use; and b) increase access to evidence-based, culturally-competent, individualized care, with increased treatment engagement and improved health outcomes, for people living with HIV, by taking deliberate steps to increase the capacity of HIV service organizations in the Southern states.

Supervision: Receives consistent general supervision conferring with higher level staff/faculty. May schedule, supervise and evaluate the work of funded community partners. Provides support on hiring decisions. May supervisie student interns and/or part-time employees who perform similar duties that are routine in nature.
