Dean of the LaPenta School of Business

Iona College seeks nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the LaPenta School of Business. This is an opportunity to lead an AACSB accredited school of business, located 20 minutes north of New York City, at a critical juncture in its evolution.

A midsized, "Master's L," Carnegie Classification Catholic College, Iona serves approximately 3,000 undergraduate and 600 graduate students from 35 states and territories and 40 countries. The College offers nearly 40 undergraduate majors, more than 40 minors, and over 30 graduate programs. The new dean will join the leadership of Dr. Seamus Carey, a national leader in higher education, who became Iona College's ninth president in 2019.

A recent gift of $17.5 million from Trustee and business school alumnus Robert V. LaPenta '67, ‘00H, has resulted in a major renovation and physical transformation of the business school building into a state-of-the-art teaching and learning environment. The new building that opened in January 2020, will significantly enhance the learning and teaching experience for students, faculty, and alumni alike. High-tech learning spaces include state-of-the-art classrooms and computer labs, a central atrium event space, case study and meeting rooms, faculty offices, a lecture hall, a business career center, and an expanded trading floor.

The LaPenta School of Business at Iona College currently enrolls nearly 1,200 undergraduate and graduate students in five departments: Accounting; Finance, Business Economics, and Legal Studies; Information Systems and Business Analytics; Management, Business Administration, and Health Care Management; and Marketing and International Business.

In the school, there are 44 full-time and 23 adjunct faculty members (AY 2020-21). Faculty and students benefit greatly from its proximity to New York City as well as Greenwich and Stamford, Connecticut, and the institution is able to attract business professionals of national repute who are both gifted teachers and practitioners.

The Dean is the academic leader and principal administrative officer of the LaPenta School of Business and reports to the Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs. As a member of the President's Cabinet, the Dean will provide bold vision and leadership while overseeing a full-time staff of 9 including four direct reports: a senior associate dean for faculty affairs; an associate dean and director of the undergraduate program; an assistant dean and director of graduate programs; and an executive assistant.
