VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN THE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Physics Department at Wofford College invites applications for a one year Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics beginning in August 2021.  Our preference is for individuals who have a commitment to teaching and an interest in developing engaging learning environments at a liberal arts college.  The teaching load for this position is the equivalent of two classes and two labs per semester. There are opportunities to teach at the introductory and upper level depending on interest and background.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

18 graduate hours is required for appointment.  A doctorate in physics (or closely related field) is highly desired but a Master’s degree in physics (or closely related) will be considered.  ABD candidates are strongly encouraged for application.  Preference will be provided for candidates with successful collegiate level teaching experience as well as demonstrated experience mentoring students.

  • A statement addressing the candidate’s teaching philosophy (which should include an interest in and understanding of working at a residential, liberal arts college)

  • Two to three letters of reference
  • Graduate transcripts (copies are sufficient initially)
