Flagler College invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Department of Theatre Arts specializing in design, lighting, and technology at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2021.  Areas of instruction include Scenic Design, Lighting, Stage Management and Audio-Sound, as well as fundamental introductory courses in Theatre Arts and General Education.  Additional Performing Arts responsibilities include supervision of set and lighting design for main stage productions (3-4 per year), supervision of student designers, and, in coordination with the Technical Director of Lewis Auditorium, participation in technical work and rehearsals for Performing Arts productions.  Institutional responsibilities include academic advising, service to Flagler College, including participation on Faculty Senate committees, and attendance at faculty meetings.

Candidates are required to provide a statement on their commitment to creating and fostering a community of diversity and inclusion, in the classroom, in productions, throughout the institution and the arts.

An MFA or PhD in theatrical design (scenic, lighting, and sound) at the time of appointment is strongly preferred.  A passion for teaching and mentoring undergraduate students, interdisciplinary learning, and an active professional agenda are required.  Review of completed applications will begin January 22, 2021 and will continue until the position is filled.
