Position Summary:
The Associate Dean for Student Affairs & Inclusion at the Boise location is a clinical faculty member who works on behalf of the Dean, usually with delegated responsibility, to assist in overseeing certain aspects of College administration in partnership with the Moscow location’s Associate Dean of Student Affairs & Admissions (Moscow ADS). The Associate Dean in Boise (Boise ADS) is primarily responsible for overseeing the Academic Success department in both locations, helping provide academic support and develop advising programs and policies at the College of Law. The Boise ADS also supports the Moscow ADS as needed in supervising the Career Development and Admissions departments as well as the SBA and other student groups. The Boise ADS is responsible for supporting current — and building new — diversity and inclusion initiatives, creating pipeline programs to increase access to the legal academy and retain students, and supporting efforts to nurture an inclusive environment. The Boise ADS should participate in College and University committees. The Boise ADS supervises JD staff, administrative assistants, and (at times) student employees. Additional duties include managing the building operations at the Boise location, working with the University’s Center for Disability and Resources and, ss needed, assist with applying for and administering grants, preparing for the American Bar Association (ABA) accreditation reviews, and submitting curriculum and other matters to the University and completing necessary paperwork and processes.
The Dean, according to the needs of the College, may assign additional duties, which might include teaching a course according to the needs of the College if timer permits considering the increased service obligations of the administrative role. The Boise ADS is expected to participate in outreach activities and attend community and legal association events as the Dean’s designee. The Boise ADS must also meet the requirements for clinical professors, as set forth in the College’s bylaws.
