Assistant Professor, Family Diversity

QUALIFICATIONS: The Department of Family & Consumer Studies (FCS) at the University of Utah invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin July 2021. FCS seeks a candidate who will strengthen our curricular and research capacity in the area of family diversity and contribute to the inclusive excellence of the University of Utah’s academic community. We are especially interested in scholars whose research addresses issues related to family formation, family structure, family processes, family belief systems, and family inequalities among historically disadvantaged and underrepresented groups (e.g., sexual minorities, immigrants, racial and ethnic minorities). Ability to teach courses on quantitative and/or qualitative research methods is desired. Candidates should have an excellent publication and teaching record, commensurate with experience, and show potential for extramural funding. Applicants must have a Ph.D. at time of appointment. Successful candidates will be committed to working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment and enhancing undergraduate and graduate education.

RELATED INFORMATION: Family & Consumer Studies is an interdisciplinary department dedicated to understanding and enhancing the well-being of individuals and the families and communities in which they live. We examine how the social, economic, political, and physical environments affect families, individuals, and consumers. The faculty includes scholars from sociology, demography, economics, psychology, family studies, ethnic studies, human development, and early childhood education. FCS faculty are involved with the Consortium in Families and Health Research (https://cfahr.utah.edu/), which brings together faculty from 11 departments across 5 colleges, the School of Medicine, the Huntsman Cancer Institute, the University Neighborhood Partners, and the Utah Population Database.
