ASSISTANT PROFESSORS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ARCHITECTURE
FAY JONES SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE + DESIGN, UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS
The Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design at the University
of Arkansas invites applications from highly motivated candidates
for two full-time nine-month tenure track faculty appointments to
teach Design Studio in the Department of Architecture, both at the
rank of Assistant Professor. Preference will be given to candidates
with demonstrated expertise in Building Performance Simulation
and/or Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Parametric Analysis
in Support of Fabrication. Candidates for both positions must
demonstrate strong design sensibilities, critical thinking skills,
and capacity to teach and develop coursework within a five-year
Undergraduate Professional Bachelor of Architecture curriculum.
Specific demonstrated potential for success in innovative research,
scholarship, professional practice, and other creative activity are
also required. Professional licensure is preferred. The position
start date is August 2021.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential
job function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain
collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Minimum Qualifications
Successful candidates must,
• be able to teach and/or coordinate design studio in the
Undergraduate Professional BArch Program.
• have a terminal degree in architecture (M.Arch or
equivalent)
• have a recognized body of creative work, excellent communication
skills, active or developing research, scholarship, and
professional/creative practice.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who,
• are able and willing to lead implementation in the use of
building performance simulation and/or building. information
modeling software incrementally across the curriculum.
• have a post-professional education in architecture or an allied
discipline.
• evidence of successful teaching in studios, lectures and
seminars.
• experience teaching undergraduate courses across the departmental
curriculum.
• worked collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• experience in professional architecture practice or in an allied
discipline of practice.
• Have developed an excellent body of creative design work.
