Research Data Analyst

Overview:

The COVID-19 pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 is accelerating globally resulting in unprecedented morbidity and mortality. A safe and effective vaccine is urgently needed. Serum Institute of India Private Limited (SIIPL) in collaboration with investigators from several countries is in the process of initiating and conducting clinical trials in India, Canada and Germany. The execution of such large multi-center sponsored clinical trials requires dynamic interaction between the sponsor funding the development program (SIIPL), the contract research organization (CRO) hired to execute the trial, and academic experts who provide scientific oversight and interpret trial results. The scientific team at the International Vaccine Access Center at Johns Hopkins University (JHU), consisting of Drs. Mathuram Santosham, Naor Bar-Zeev, and Anita Shet, is working with SIIPL and DiagnoSearch Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd, in collaboration with the respective clinical trial site Principal Investigators to provide scientific oversight.

General Summary/Purpose:

The Research Data Analyst will perform data management activities, including addressing multi-centric data integrity issues, and coordinate data collection, compilation and data cleaning of datasets obtained from trial investigators. The position will involve data analysis, interpretation, maintenance, and reporting. The Research Data Analyst will also assist in overall project activities as needed.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist IVAC consultancy on multi-center clinical trials involving VPM1002 and SARS-COV-2 infection, and perform data management and analysis.
  • Conduct and oversee data cleaning, review, and management.
  • Assist IVAC faculty in addressingdata integrity and quality issues at multiple trial sites.
  • Conduct basic data analysis, including linear and logistic regression.
  • Attend meetings with investigators.
  • Prepare IRB documents and reports.
  • Develop monitoring and evaluation tools for study data (e.g., reports, error checks) with support from the data manager.
  • Create datasets for analyses and conducting exploratory analyses for future research.
  • Prepare reports to funders.
  • Help draft abstracts, manuscripts, and disseminate research findings.
  • Supervise graduate students and part-time staff, as needed.
  • Develop communication strategies for above project and related projects.
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (mandatory):

  • Bachelor’s degree in epidemiology, public health, or a related field.
  • 3 years related experience.
  • Additional education (Master’s level) may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula***.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience coordinating research projects and experience in quantitative data analysis.
  • Training and experience in program planning and evaluation.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong analytic skills with the ability to critically analyze research data.
  • Knowledge of research evaluation and data management.
  • Project management and organizational skills.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of a statistical software package, such as SAS, STATA, or R.
  • Strong problem solving ability.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet project deadlines.
  • Self-directed with a team orientation.

***JHU Equivalency Formula:18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
