GEORGIA STATE UNIVERSITY anticipates hiring a Professor of Practice in Opera Theater. Start date: August 16, 2021. This position also comes with an endowed chair, the Valerie Adams Professorship in Opera. The successful candidate can anticipate teaching undergraduate and graduate courses related to Opera production and participating in service at the school, college, and/or university levels. Essential qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; demonstrable record of experience and success directing opera at the professional level as well as artistic standing in the field; ability to recruit and teach a diverse student body of graduate and undergraduate students; and knowledge of current operatic repertoire trends as well as the core repertoire. Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree or higher; successful teaching experience at the collegiate level; and proven track record of building a donor base.
