REPORTS TO: Director, Technology Support Services
PLACEMENT : Support Staff Grade 8
MINIMUM PAY RATE : $48,766 annually

Position Summary

Entry level position. Conducts end user support of PC desktop systems. Participates in the installation, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing of computer equipment at Joliet Junior College. Coordinates and maintains an inventory system of computer equipment and is responsible for coordinating the regular maintenance of computer equipment at the institution. Local travel to remote centers and campuses required.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Conduct day-to-day support and administration of PC desktop systems via phone, email, walk-in, remote sessions and desktop visits for faculty & staff.
2. Load and configure operating systems, drivers, and applications on new computer equipment from imaging server or physical media.
3. Troubleshoot computers, displays, laptops, printers, projection systems and other peripherals including phones determining if the problems are hardware, software, network, or user based.
4. Answer Support Desk phones and enter issues into call tracking system; maintain and update computer-based reporting and tracking system for computer problems.
5. Assist computer users with software problems and with the basic day-to-day utilization of approved software packages.
6. Coordinate repairs of computer and peripheral equipment by third party vendors when needed.
7. Maintain and order spare parts inventory for equipment repair.
8. Coordinate the tracking and disposal of obsolete computer equipment.
9. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on computer hardware systems.
10. Maintain inventory databases for all microcomputer hardware equipment and software packages.
11. Participate in meetings and committees as assigned.
12. Perform related duties as assigned.
