The University of Wisconsin-Platteville School of Agriculture is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor specializing in Dairy Food Science and Management with a focus in dairy food product development. This is a nine-month (academic year) tenure-track position. This position will be funded by the Dairy Innovation Hub (https://cals.wisc.edu/dairy-innovation-hub/). This position is 70% research and outreach and 30% teaching. The tenure home of this faculty position will be in the School of Agriculture at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
The successful candidate is expected to develop an impactful research program that supports Wisconsin dairy producers, farm consultants, and dairy food processors by providing leadership and translational research that is focused on dairy food science and management, with particular interest in dairy food product development for domestic and international markets, for the enrichment of human health and nutrition and the increased economic sustainability of our dairy farms and surrounding communities.
It is expected that this person will develop an independent, externally-funded and internationally recognized research program in dairy food science and management that will be integrated with their teaching and outreach efforts. The new faculty will be expected to secure funding from competitive federal programs and industry partners.
This position carries a commitment to the three functions of resident instruction, research, and outreach/service, as well as professional and university services as appropriate to the position and rank.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop an independent, externally-funded and internationally recognized research program focusing on dairy food product development, with a focus on putting systems in place to benefit the dairy industry.
2. Integrate research results into outreach education programs on issues identified as needs of the state and its residents.
3. Document the impacts of research, teaching, and outreach efforts and communicate these impacts to stakeholders, the general public, and professional colleagues.
4. Demonstrate commitment to the purpose, vision, and values of the Dairy Innovation Hub, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and the well-being of Wisconsin and its residents.
5. Teach as an Assistant Professor to stakeholders (e.g., students, educators, civic groups, boards, farmers) throughout the state of Wisconsin. Contribute to the department's mission through undergraduate student instruction and mentoring. Contribute research expertise to courses taught in the department.
6. Be of service to the department, college, and campus communities.
