The School of Social and Behavioral Sciences in Arizona State University's New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences is inviting applications for a full-time benefits-eligible, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Lecturer to support our undergraduate and graduate programs that focus on forensic psychology / psychology and law. Initial appointment is for the academic year beginning August 2021.
Lecturers are expected to teach 12 credits of courses during each of ASU’s fall and spring semesters (a 4/4 load), with the additional possibility of summer teaching. The majority of the teaching will serve our online undergraduate and MS programs in Forensic Psychology. The position further includes course redevelopment and maintenance, assisting with program development, working with graduate student teaching assistants, departmental and professional service, and working with ancillary support services connected to ASU Online.
The recruited scholar will be a member of ASU’s Law and Behavioral Science group, which is composed of over 30 core and affiliated faculty members from across ASU and serves over 1700 students in five degree programs. Required Qualifications:
Applicants must have:
a) a doctorate in psychology or a related field by time of
appointment; and
b) demonstrated experience—either through research or
instruction—in the field of legal psychology / forensic psychology
/ psychology and law.
Desired qualifications:
We are further interested in candidates who have experience or
skills in more than one of the following areas:
(a) ability to teach a variety of courses within the forensic/legal
psychology area;
(b) strong research and/or instructional background in
legal/forensic psychology;
(c) strong quantitative and methodological skills and
knowledge;
(d) experience teaching at the postsecondary level in the field of
psychology, particularly in the online environment;
(e) experience with online learning platforms such as Canvas or
Blackboard;
(f) experience working with or mentoring student teaching
assistants;
(g) excellent communication skills; and/or,
(h) demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse
student population, including first generation students.
About the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences: The School houses faculty and programs in several interdisciplinary research clusters, including Law and Psychology, Social Justice and Human Rights, Resilience and Stress, and an emerging cluster in Behavioral Data Science.
