EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND PROVOST

Cleveland Institute of Music

Cleveland, Ohio

The Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM), an adventurous, innovative and diverse conservatory of music, seeks an experienced and dynamic leader to serve as the school’s Executive Vice President and Provost (Provost). The successful Provost will share the school’s vision to be the future of classical music, boldly lead the faculty and academic staff into that future and strengthen every aspect of the venerable conservatory and its preparatory programs.

CIM empowers the world’s most talented classical music students to fulfill their dreams and potential. Its graduates command the most celebrated and revered stages in the world as soloists, chamber musicians, and ensemble members; compose meaningful, award-winning new repertoire; and are highly sought-after teaching artists, administrators and thought leaders.

As an integral member of CIM’s senior leadership team, the Provost will be a creative partner to a strategically driven and innovative President – as well as an equally driven and supportive Board of Trustees, faculty, staff and student body – in conceiving, developing, implementing and assessing forward-thinking initiatives. With responsibility for a $12.4 million budget and directly supervising the Dean of Academic Affairs and Student Success, Dean of Pathway Programs and Enrollment Management, and Dean of Artistic and Facilities Operations, the Provost will provide the vision, imagination and leadership required to foster the musical, intellectual and artistic development of its student artists, faculty and staff, while enhancing the institution’s capacity to prepare CIM graduates for successful futures. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in managing organizational change, a collaborative approach to leadership and the ability to be an effective advocate and ambassador for CIM, both internally and with a wide variety of external audiences.

CIM has retained the national executive search firm Isaacson, Miller to assist in this search. All inquiries, nominations and applications should be directed in confidence to Ben Tobin and Keith Mason through the Isaacson, Miller website: www.imsearch.com/7810
