East Tennessee State University’s (ETSU) Clemmer College invites applications for the position of Chair/Head, in the Department of Counseling and Human Services, a 12-month tenured position at the rank of Associate/Full Professor. ETSU is committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce by ensuring all of our students, faculty, and staff work in an environment of openness and acceptance. ETSU is a Carnegie classified doctoral/research intensive institution, with a diverse student body of 15,000+ students. Clemmer College began as a college of education and evolved to encompass teaching and learning, physical and mental well-being, and leadership. The College is comprised of six academic departments (Counseling & Human Services, Curriculum & Instruction, Early Childhood Education, Educational Foundations & Special Education, Educational Leadership & Policy Analysis, and Sport, Exercise, Recreation, & Kinesiology) which offer nine undergraduate and twenty-eight graduate degree programs, including three doctoral degrees. The College also includes a K-12 laboratory school, an early childhood care facility, four centers of excellence, and the Quillen Chair of Excellence in Education. In addition to its educational mission, the College provides opportunities for research and professional outreach.

The Department of CSHS is located in the Clemmer College. The Department presently consists of 16 full-time faculty, a Director of Field Experiences, and support staff. The Department offers undergraduate minors in Human Development and Learning, Family Studies, and Leadership Studies, B.S. and M.S. in Human Services, a M.A. in Counseling (Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling concentrations), a Graduate Certificate in Community Leadership, and, in collaboration with the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis, an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership (Counselor Leadership concentration). The counseling program was the recipient of the 2019 Robert Frank Outstanding Counselor Education Program award by the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES). The department operates the ETSU Community Counseling Clinic, a training facility that provides free counseling services to the university and community. Programs are accredited through the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and the Council for Standards in Human Service Education (CSHSE).
