Enrolling around 5,000 students, BSU offers more than 70 undergraduate majors and eight graduate degrees encompassing arts, sciences and select professional programs. The Administrative Assistant to the Dean provides administrative and clerical assistance to the Dean, administers the operations of the College office, acts as liaison for the College of Individual and Community Health, and provides work direction for college office student assistants.

Responsibilities of the Administrative Assistant include:

1. Providing administrative support for all College of Individual and Community Health functions. The College consists of eight (8) departments including Sustainability Studies (Economics, Environmental Earth, Geology, Geology & Space Studies); Criminal Justice (Criminal Justice, Police Science & Leadership and Community & Criminal Justice Studies); Human Performance, Sport & Health; Nursing; Political Science; Psychology; Social Work; and Sociology & Communication Studies.  Providing lead direction to other administrative assistants within the College and associated departments.  Percent of Time: 35%                                     

Minimum qualifications for this position include:

• Experience in scheduling calendar and video conferencing platforms (e.g. Zoom, Skype, etc.).
• Data entry, word processing, spreadsheet, and database management skills sufficient to create, enter, modify, prepare, and retrieve data in a variety of formats and documents.
• Accounting skills sufficient to monitor budgets and balance multiple budgets and grants, analyze various line items, and notify the Dean of any discrepancies.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Knowledge of and experience with cloud storage (e.g. Box, Teams, etc.).
• Knowledge of privacy laws, state policies and procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.
• Experience with Faculty Workload Management (FWM) or a similar employee assignment program.
• Demonstrated experience working with and/or interest in working with students and colleagues from multicultural and diverse backgrounds.

Lake Bemidji State Park and its miles of navigable trails is located directly across the lake from BSU, and the Buena Vista Ski Area — just 12 miles north of campus — offers downhill skiing and BSU-sponsored student transportation in the winter months. Further, the Mississippi River Headwaters is a mere 45 minutes from Bemidji.
