Research Assistant Professor in Creativity, Self and Society (PR0225/20-21)

The “Creative, Self and Society” Research Group of the Faculty of Arts is now inviting applications for a Research Assistant Professor to be affiliated with the Department of Humanities & Creative Writing.

The appointee is expected to teach introductory and interdisciplinary courses in the Department. Preferred teaching and research topics are in Cultural Studies relevant to the focus of the Research Group.

Other responsibilities include related research and publication and supervision of undergraduate honours projects. Dedication to excellence in advanced research, grants seeking as well as teaching is essential, as is commitment to work in a bilingual and bicultural setting.

The “Creative, Self and Society” Research Group was developed under the Faculty’s Research Niche Area of “Well Being, Value and the Public Good.” The CSS Group aims to develop excellence in research on creativity through scholarly studies and creative practices with a focus on areas such as identity and selfhood, environmental awareness, a deeper understanding of society in a trans-cultural context, and the fostering of imaginative and critical thinking, all of which are essential to well-being, value, and the public good.

The Department of Humanities and Creative Writing incorporates a bilingual, interdisciplinary and cross-cultural curriculum that develops and sustains the whole person education mission of Hong Kong Baptist University.

Applicants should possess a relevant PhD degree with sound research and a record of publication record and teaching experience at the tertiary level.

Initial appointment will be offered on a contract of three years commencing May 2021. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Remuneration package includes retirement/gratuity benefits, annual leave, medical and dental scheme.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
