The Social Work Department is seeking a Social Worker Supervisor to support the Child Welfare Training Unit co-located with the Flagstaff DCS Office. The Social Worker Supervisor provides supervision to the NAU Child Welfare Training Project field education unit consisting of two Social Workers, a Client Advocate, and general oversight of approximately 15 social work students per year. The Supervisor will be responsible for supervising up to 20 Department of Child Safety client cases served by the training unit each year.
Additional duties may include, but are not limited to:
Provide educational experiences, supervision, and evaluation of
social work students.
Develop and implement educational curriculum for students.
Provide direct case management services for caseload of employees on leave.
Provide supervision of unit staff and students.
Participate in planning, evaluation, and research activities.
Act as liaison between NAU Child Welfare Training Project and local DCS office.
Travel and transportation of clients.
Initiates and schedules home visits to children, parents, and foster parents; communicating with attorneys, law enforcement agencies, community partners, and other team members.
Complies with all state statutes, DCS policies, and regional operating procedures concerning DCS cases, including timely documentation.
Models best-practices approaches to students in client engagement, interviewing, assessment, and case planning.
Applies social work theory, practice approaches, and knowledge of research to cases and communicates their application to students.
Attends Child Welfare staff meetings and interagency meetings with DCS.
Represents the NAU Child Welfare Training Project/Program in the community and at community events.
Bachelor's degree in Social Work.
1-2 years of management or supervisory experience.
2-4 years of relevant experience.
Licensed or license eligibility in the State of Arizona as a Licensed Physchologist, Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Master's degree in Social Work.
3-5 years experience as a Department of Child Safety supervisor in Arizona.
Experience in providing educational supervision of students.
Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills.
