Job Description

The Department of Engineering in the College of Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for a non-tenure-track Professional Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering in the area of Solid Mechanics. The expected start date is fall 2021. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver previously-developed online courses in the new competency-based education program in mechanical engineering technology (CBE MCET) and related areas, as well as to develop and deliver new courses in the program. The successful candidate may also be assigned some traditional face-to-face courses on campus. Although this is a non-tenure track position, progression to the rank of professional associate professor and professional professor is possible.

The Department of Engineering prepares well-educated, highly skilled, and socially and professionally responsible engineers and engineering technologists from a diverse population of students so that they can have productive and rewarding careers at local, state and national levels. Graduates will be well grounded in the fundamentals of engineering, mathematics, science, communications, and problem solving. To ensure that our graduates are valued by industry and to continually improve our program, input is sought from employers, our alumni and an industry advisory committee so that the changing needs of industry are met.

Required Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field. Advanced ABD will be considered; degree must be conferred by the time of appointment.
  • Teaching experience at the university level, either as a teaching assistant or as an instructor of record.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in developing and teaching online courses.
