Director of Global Launch Services

About Northeastern:
Founded in 1898, Northeastern is a global research university and the recognized leader in experience-driven lifelong learning. Our world-renowned experiential approach empowers our students, faculty, alumni, and partners to create impact far beyond the confines of discipline, degree, and campus.

Our locations—in Boston; Charlotte, North Carolina; London; Portland, Maine; San Francisco; Seattle; Silicon Valley; Toronto; Vancouver; and the Massachusetts communities of Burlington and Nahant—are nodes in our growing global university system. Through this network, we expand opportunities for flexible, student-centered learning and collaborative, solutions-focused research.

Northeastern's comprehensive array of undergraduate and graduate programs— in a variety of on-campus and online formats—lead to degrees through the doctorate in nine colleges and schools. Among these, we offer more than 195 multi-discipline majors and degrees designed to prepare students for purposeful lives and careers.

About the Opportunity:
Northeastern University seeks a forward-thinking and strategic leader to assume a newly created position as Director of Global Launch Services to support the university's rapidly expanding global campus system. Within a university comprised of colleges and campuses across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, the Director will join an institution with a long history of infusing global experiences throughout its learning and research programs.

As a strategic partner to leadership throughout the University, the Director will inform and execute strategies to launch new sites and academic programs in alignment with the university's goals for learning and discovery. The Director will be responsible for the creation and implementation of an infrastructure to support the rapid, reliable, repeatable and efficient launch and integration of new sites and academic programs across Northeastern's global network of campuses.

Responsibilities:
The Director will manage the Global Launch Services team, a group of professionals who work in collaboration with partners throughout the global campus system and Northeastern's nine colleges to launch and integrate new global sites and programs. The Team's primary responsibility is to facilitate the launches of new programs, to support the deployment of existing programs to new locations, and to manage the launch and integration of new global network sites, in alignment with the university's goals and applicable legal, regulatory and academic compliance obligations. The Team's resident expertise in academic governance, regulatory compliance, government relations, business modeling and strategic analysis will inform decision making on site and program selection, ensure compliance and promote efficient project management and execution.

The Director will serve as the Team's primary point of contact for prioritizing project workflow, identifying and solving challenges to project progress, and providing regular status updates on all site and program launch projects. The Director will create and maintain multiple concurrent and matrixed operational plans and related documentation with a focus on sustainability, repeatability, efficiency and compliance. The Director will manage the Team's yearly budget.

In their role as an advisor on the future state of higher education, the Director will work with leadership to define strategic context for the University's evolving portfolio of global sites and programs. In collaboration with GLS team members, the Director will identify and incorporate into strategic planning a range of key factors such as growth drivers, regional market demands and trends, macro trends in business and education, evolving customer dynamics, competitive environment, and technology trends. The Director will also monitor, track, interpret, document, and share industry, competitive, and innovation trends, working with leadership to synthesize opportunities into compelling strategies. The Director will employ techniques such as scenario planning, analysis, and future-back dreaming to promote better operational decision-making under ambiguity.

As a primary liaison to leadership across Northeastern's central business units, regional and global campuses, governmental entities and other key individuals and offices relevant to the expansion of the University's network, the Director must be self-directed with exemplary interpersonal communication skills. The Director is responsible for building and maintaining a robust set of relationships across various stakeholder constituencies, to support the work of the Team and the goals of the broader network. The Director must demonstrate excellent prioritization and organizational skills, personnel management skills, cultural agility, immediacy in communication, and attention to detail.
