The American College of Financial Services (The College), a regionally accredited and nonprofit higher education institution located in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, supports the financial services industry through professional education, graduate studies, relevant research, and customized learning solutions.

 

The Senior Instructional Design will assist and develop projects as well as consult with academics and fellow instructional designers leading them in the development of learning strategies, development of team skills, etc.

 

This is a mid-level exempt professional position in the organization.  Reporting to the Director, Learning Design and Delivery, it serves as an expert resource to faculty in the organization and the creation of new and revised learning materials.  It also assists the Director in exploring emerging technologies of benefit to the College and its educational programs. 

 

PROJECT PLANNER FOR INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN EFFORTS

  • Assess and/or develops project plans to coordinate the various projects
  • Monitor the performance of project teams against work plans, as assigned.
  • Assess product requirements in light of current capabilities/needs to determine delivery feasibility.
  • Manage vendor relations

 

SUPPORT THE “DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT” OF LEARNING MATERIALS AND DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF LEARNING SYSTEMS

  • Works with faculty members to apply instructional design technologies/techniques to the organization and development of new course/learning materials.
  • Advises and assists faculty in revising and updating course/learning materials.
  • Supports Instructional Technology in educating faculty on the capabilities and uses of the College’s learning systems technologies.
  • Monitor the performance of project teams against work plans, as assigned.
  • Evaluate product/service technology support requirements.
  • Assess product requirements in light of current capabilities/needs to determine delivery feasibility.
  • Serves as an in-house expert on instructional design methodologies, continuously monitoring the latest innovations in the field and the performance of new products.
  • Visualizes instructional graphics, the user interface, interactions, and the finished product.
  • Writes effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts, and video scripts.
  • Strategically with Subject Matter Experts and team members.
  • Understands the capabilities of eLearning development tools and software.
  • Understands related fields—usability and experience design, information design, communications, and new technologies.

 

SUPPORT RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN METHODOLOGIES, EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY PLATFORMS, AND EDUCATIONAL DELIVERY METHODS

  • Working under the Director of Instructional Design and as a collaborative group, continuously monitors and investigates new and existing learning techniques, and products analyze educational technology trends, and reports on the latest innovations in the use and delivery of online learning.

 

EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM ADMINISTRATION SUPPORT

  • Support Instructional Technologist efforts and LMS administration weekly. Shares daily responsibilities with the team to ensure processing for student enrollments, access to accurate content, and quality assurance.

           

INSTITUTIONAL SUPPORT AND ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Serves on new and existing committees as a voice for instructional design, and general organizational improvements.
  • Attends sessions regularly and reliably with an intention to contribute positively to our student’s experience.
  • Engages with new team members actively, in and outside of team sessions, with a true desire to improve the culture at TAC.
  • Participates actively in discussions and promotes new ideas thoughtfully and respectfully.
  • Considers new perspectives with openness and an eye toward holistic, sustainable, and scalable solutions.
  • Encourages new approaches to old processes/policies.

Qualifications

  • General and business knowledge are equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree with 7-10 years of progressive experience in Instructional Design, systems design & development, including multi-media systems, and management of technical workgroups. A Master of Science degree in Instructional Design and/or equivalent required.
  • Experience in the Brightspace platform is a plus, but not required.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with College faculty, corporate clients, and vendors.
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
