Position Summary

The Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies at the University of Georgia (Athens) invites applicants for the position of Lecturer and German Language Coordinator, to begin August 1, 2021. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track appointment. The successful candidate will teach a 3/3 or 3/4 course load (depending on the number of 4 credit hour courses assigned), including a graduate level course in foreign language pedagogy; coordinate multi-section first- and second-year German courses; and supervise graduate Teaching Assistants.

Additional Requirements

Ph.D. (in hand by start date), either in German Studies or in second language acquisition, language pedagogy, or a related field, with an emphasis in German.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification

Two years of experience teaching college German

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

*Background in language pedagogy, teaching with technology, and teaching supervision/mentorship
*Native or near-native fluency in both German and English
*Record of teaching excellence
