Job Description
KNAU is the premier source of balanced, accurate information, civilized discourse, and cultural inspiration in northern Arizona. We reflect the distinctive qualities of our region and operate in efficient and sustainable ways. KNAU is a public service of Northern Arizona University.
Serves as KNAU’s All Things Considered announcer and operations
tech
Operates master control room equipment including audio
console.
Prepares, reviews and edits program materials prior to
broadcast.
Uses a variety of sources including Associated Press copy; public
service, underwriting, and weather announcements; pre-recorded
rundowns and other material for inclusion in All Things
Considered.
Writes, records, and produces midday announcements for automated
system.
Demonstrated problem solving ability.
Fills in on other KNAU air shifts as assigned.
Participates in KNAU on-air fundraising and promotional
efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and/or two years’ experience as a radio
announcer.
Demonstrated strong on-air presence: confident, intelligent,
relaxed and knowledgeable style compatible with the NPR sound.
Preferred Qualifications
Public radio experience.
Experience editing audio
Experience voicing underwriting announcement on public radio
Familiarity operating radio automation systems.
Knowledge about Northern Arizona and the region is desirable.
