Job Description

Reporting to the University Employee Relations Director and as a member of the Employee Relations team, the Employee Relations Consultant will provide decision-making support to supervisors and staff on a variety of employment related matters. This role is expected to:

  • Provide consultation and recommendations to supervisors and staff in the interpretation of policies and procedures.
  • Provide frontline support in the prevention, investigation, resolution, and referral of employee relations problems.
  • Make appropriate recommendations for corrective action that aligns with the university's policies, practices and culture.
  • Recognize compliance issues and suggest solutions or best practices to address issues.
  • Maintain confidential employee information.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in HR or related discipline with experience equivalent to an advanced degree. Experience in Employee Relations and/or workplace issue related investigations. Experience in diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues and recommending and implementing effective solutions to resolve problems. Discernible knowledge of employment and labor relations regulations and practice.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree and/or PHR, SPHR or SHRMCP, SHRMSCP certification. HR experience in higher education.
