Job Details

Postdoctoral Fellow in Clinical Health Psychology, Rowan University

The Clinical Health And Social Experiences (CHASE) Research Team at Rowan University ( https://drarigo.wordpress.com/ ) is hiring a postdoctoral fellow. Our team of research staff, clinical psychology Ph.D. students, and undergraduate students is led by Dr. Dani Arigo ( https://csm.rowan.edu/departments/psychology/facultystaff/psychology_full_part/arigo.html ). As a team, we focus on understanding psychological and social influences on health and health behavior, to inform the design and improvement of health behavior change interventions for physical activity, weight control, disordered eating, and chronic illness self-management. Our current NIH-funded projects use intensive longitudinal assessment (e.g., ecological momentary assessment, daily diary) and experimental methods, as well as digital health tools (e.g., smartphone apps, wearable fitness monitors, and social media platforms), to identify and intervene on psychosocial mechanisms of behavior change. Trainees with interests in any of these areas, particularly social comparison processes, women’s health (midlife/college), digital health, and/or physical activity, are invited to submit an application.

The incoming postdoctoral fellow will be supervised by Dr. Arigo and will have access to training resources across Rowan University, Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine, and Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. Primary responsibilities include data management and data analysis; developing and assisting with manuscript preparation; preparing and delivering presentations for professional conferences (e.g., posters and oral presentations); assisting with preparation of IRB and NIH documentation; contributing to grant proposals; managing web content; and assisting in mentoring graduate and undergraduate trainees. The postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity to conduct clinical assessment and intervention sessions and to receive supervision relevant for professional licensure in psychology. The successful candidate will have opportunities to work with multidisciplinary teams in integrated primary care settings and to develop first-authored manuscripts and small pilot projects.

Qualifications:

Candidates should have a PhD in clinical psychology, health psychology, kinesiology, or a related field relevant to the work described above. Candidates should have proficiency in scientific writing, time management, and mentorship of junior trainees, and should be able to effectively interact with participants (in person and remotely) and work independently. Preference will be given to applicants with exceptional skills in data management and statistical analysis (using SAS, SPSS, or R) and/or previous experience with ambulatory physical activity assessment, intensive assessment methods, conducting systematic reviews, managing social media accounts, software development relevant to mobile apps, or website design.

To apply, please complete the online application and submit the following:

  • cover letter describing interest and qualifications for the position
  • curriculum vitae
  • representative publication (if available)
  • names and contact information of three professional references

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. This position is scheduled to begin on July 1, 2021, with a range of start dates possible.
