The Jewish Studies Program in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow faculty position for Academic Year 2021-2022 and is pending funding. This fellowship is offered in conjunction with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies. The appointment is a 12-month term position and will commence on August 1, 2021.

In addition, the fellow will join the 2021-2022 cohort of fellows at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) and will be expected to conduct research in the USHMM’s collections and participate in the ongoing activities, including the weekly fellows’ seminar, of the Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies.

This fellowship seeks an emerging scholar in Holocaust Studies, broadly conceived, who demonstrates evidence for a promising scholarly trajectory and potential for excellence in teaching. Applicants should hold a PhD or other terminal degree by August 1st, 2021. The position will require the incumbent to teach one course during the Fall 2021 semester and one course in the Spring 2022 semester at American University, in any area of Holocaust Studies. Course assignments will be made in consultation with the Director of the Jewish Studies Program. The fellow will be expected to hold office hours and participate in American University activities.
