The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida invites applications for a time limited, full-time non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Associate Engineer in the Florida Applied Research in Engineering (FLARE) Center.

The FLARE Associate Engineer will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of a database and associated documentation including tracking opportunities, engagements, publications, and other information central to FLARE. The incumbent will assist the Director with administration and coordination of the operation of FLARE including all aspects of research development logistics. The Associate Engineer will be in regular contact with industry and government partners, sharing announcements and updates on applied research progress, disseminating data collected from FLARE applied research affiliates, and conducting surveys. This position will perform or provide oversight of research progress, burn rate and deliverables. The incumbent will oversee and supervise communication by staff members reporting to this position and pursue continuous improvement in administration of FLARE to ensure effective communication across security, compliance, and research development functions. In addition, the incumbent will assist the FLARE Director and FLARE Program Area Leads with strategic planning, identifying and prioritizing research needs, proposal development, and liaising with potential partners and stakeholders. This position will report to Richard Vigeant, Director of the Florida Applied Research in Engineering Center.

This position requires a PhD in a related field and an individual who has a background in systems engineering including electrical, mechanical and/or software research and development best practices. Applicants with a Master’s degree and appropriate industry experience may also be considered.
