Position Description and Duties: In collaboration with and under the direction of the Division Dean assists, manages, and supports day-to-day nursing operations for the Associate Degree Nursing, Licensed Practical Nursing, and the Certified Nursing Assisted Programs. Serves as Nursing Administrator with the authority and responsibilities defined by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR), the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB), and the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) to direct the nursing curriculum and program outcomes.

Operational and Personal Management:

In collaboration with faculty in the nursing department demonstrates leadership in the core values of respect, integrity, collaboration, and excellence, within the nursing department and across health career disciplines.

Fosters a collaborative environment for effective two-way communication between the administration and faculty to ensure the integrity, of the curriculum and to articulate, interpret, and communicate administrative decision and College polices for the Nursing Department.

Works collaboratively with regulatory and accrediting agencies in complying with standards and requirements for curriculum, faculty, and students.

Demonstrates strong organization skills and the ability to provide leadership for faculty and staff.

Establishes office practices and procedures designed for the continual improvement of office outcomes and services to the Division.

Recommends evaluative data to the Dean regarding clinical instructors, simulation hospital and laboratory staff.

Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing processes and makes recommendations to the Dean for improvement.

Maintains awareness of and assures compliance with employee contracts and handbook procedures.

Identifies and recommends professional development opportunities for staff and nursing faculty.

Signs hourly timesheets for laboratory personnel, clinical instructors and simulation hospital staff.

Manages, monitors, and implements processes for the evaluation of adjunct faculty and other Division staff.

Collaborates with Human Resources and the Payroll Office to assure compliance with processes and procedures that relate to the employment of part-time division employees.

Facilitates conflict resolution among staff, student workers, and others within the Division in consultation with the Dean.

Fiscal:

Monitors resource allocation and utilization within the department (time, space, money, personnel, materials & supplies, equipment).

Monitors department budgets and verifies accuracy,

Coordinate the budget development process for Associate Degree, Licensed Practical Nursing, and CNA programs.

Monitors and recommends nursing department support requests solicited form other areas of the College (i.e., IT, marketing, recruitment, research, etc.)

Research, Reporting, Project Management:

Facilitates program review process, and annual reports. Collaborate with faculty in data collection and reporting for self-study and accreditation.

Coordinates data collection for self-study and accreditation

Facilitates ongoing program evaluation.

Reviews and validates financial and operational reports.

Communication:

Facilitates open communication within the department in collaboration with the Dean.

Maintains clinical site relationships for Nursing Program and maximizes internal and external relationships on behalf of the Program and Division

Academic Program Management:

Collaborates with the Dean and nursing department to assure a dynamic and student-centered class schedule that assures students can complete program of study efficiently.

Professional Development:

Collaborates with Strategic Planning and Research to maintain awareness of district needs, particularly those reflected in the Nursing Program.

Continues to develop skills necessary for effective academic management and leadership.

Educational Requirements: Minimum Qualifications is a Master's Degree in Nursing. License Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.

Experience Requirements: Two or more years of full-time teaching in higher education. Two or more years as a Department Chair, Program Coordinator, or similar academic leadership preferred. Certified Nurse Educator preferred.
