Description

Dell Children's Medical Center and The University of Texas Dell Medical School in Austin, Texas are seeking talented and innovative pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists to help expand its Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease. Established in 2018, our center has experienced rapid growth and early success in providing excellent collaborative patient care and in demonstrating impressive clinical outcomes.

In 2019, we performed 275 pediatric cardiac cases, including 45 neonatal operations. Our dedicated pediatric cardiac critical care unit opened in June, and we placed the first pediatric ventricular assist device in Central Texas in September. In February 2020, we opened our new operating room with state of the art equipment, and we will soon be opening our second renovated operating room.

As our Center continues to grow, its mission aligns with that of Dell Medical School - a commitment to redesigning academic medicine and revolutionizing how people get and stay healthy by educating leaders, developing new models of care, and advancing innovation from health products to health care delivery.

Candidates should possess experience in caring for children with complex congenital and acquired heart diseases and adults with congenital heart disease. Primary responsibilities will include provision of direct care to patients prior to, during, and after cardiac surgery, cardiac catheterization, and noncardiac procedures on patients with cardiac disease. Additional key responsibilities include teaching, research, and quality improvement/quality assurance.

Candidates must be board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology with additional formal training in Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology. A successful candidate will have an appointment within the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care at Dell Medical School. Regular participation in educational activities with medical students and residents is expected. Exciting opportunities for collaboration with medical and adjunct specialties is encouraged.

The University of Texas Dell Medical School welcomed its inaugural class in 2016.
