The Prospect Management Analyst partners with development staff to create fundraising strategies and provide critical research information to help move prospects through the fundraising cycle. Develops and implements strategies to effectively manage processes for tracking prospects in the donor database.

  • Works collaboratively as a partner and liaison to Colleges/Schools/Units and leaders to increase the pool of potential major gift donors and provide highly customized and strategic information that helps to build relationships and increase giving.
  • Identifies, qualifies, assesses, ranks, and prioritizes donor prospects through analysis of potential donors. Reviews screening results (data) for accuracy and completeness to expand the prospect pool.
  • Regularly monitors fundraising activity for continuity and compliance with Prospect Management Guidelines and processes. Prepares regular reports and memorandum on information regarding fundraising progress/activity and interprets information to advise leaders on fundraising performance.
  • Identifies new major prospects and analyzes biographical and financial data to determine prospects' available resources and interests in relation to the University's overall funding priorities.
  • May lead departmental colleagues in special projects and initiatives.
  • Protects the privacy and confidentiality of information and files in his/her possession consistent with federal and state laws, and Board of Trustees and University policy. All prospect research collection follows the professional standards outlined by the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement.
  • Recommends changes on prospect research and management policies and procedures to improve the overall operations and service delivery, as necessary. Interprets and implements policies and procedures as they apply to an assigned area.
  • Meets and maintains the standards set forth by APRA (Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement) Skill Sets for Relationship Management. Participates in systemic and skill-based trainings to increase knowledge base and enhance overall performance and service delivery.
  • Interprets and administers established procedures related to the prospect research and prospect management programs.
  • Monitors and manages processes associated with ongoing relationship management, including building and maintaining fundraiser portfolios, defining and implementing methods to evaluate and drive portfolio productivity, monitor and report on any key measures of fundraiser activity (as defined by Development leadership. Works to ensure the effective and timely capture of relationship management data in database.
  • Assists the Director of Research and Prospect Management in ordering published and electronic resources to support the process of identifying and researching prospects.
  • Maintains periodic face-to-face contact with Development Officers, reviews top tier and assignment portfolios, and works with front-line fundraisers on prospect management strategy.
  • Serves as primary point of contact and resource for assigned units and portfolios. Advises development officers and other staff on prospect management best practices and proper procedures.
