The Texas A&M University College of Medicine is accepting applications for a full time, non-tenure, administrative position as the Department Head for Military Medicine beginning in Summer 2021.  We desire a candidate who has the vision to create a Military Medicine Tradition that is befitting Texas A&M’s military legacy in serving well those who have served. The candidate we seek is a person with a proven record in the United States military and someone who is renowned for their expertise in military medicine who ascribes to the Aggie core values of Excellence, Integrity, Leadership, Loyalty, Respect, and Selfless Service.  This individual will also hold the faculty title of Clinical Professor.

Duties will include creating a department of Military Medicine, developing a robust program to recruit veterans and their families and provide support to veterans who are current students, leveraging Texas A&M’s strategic location and current relationships with Ft Hood, Brooke Army Medical Center, Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center, Central Texas Veterans Health Care System, and Army’s Futures Command at Rellis Campus to afford our medical students unparalleled access to experts in all areas of military medicine.

Duties will also include creating an aggressive research component that will convert lessons learned from the battlefield environment to meet medical challenges in other austere environments, providing strategic planning in leading the Texas A&M Military Medicine Advisory Board to collaboratively establish the mission and goals related to the needs of our military and veteran populations, integrating this mission to our active duty military, veterans, their families, and to the citizens of Texas, and building a curriculum within the College of Medicine to support the unique educational requirements of military medicine and provide advancements into the arena of austere medicine.

The College of Medicine honors Texas A&M University’s rich military legacy. Our vision is to develop future military medicine leaders to advance healthcare delivery worldwide, leveraging this military experience and knowledge to be a leader in military medicine initiatives.

Applicants must have earned a doctorate in Medicine (M.D. or D.O.) and be able to obtain a Texas medical license.  Distinguished history of military medicine experience, medical education, and leadership must be demonstrated.
