Bowdoin has taken important safety measures during COVID -19. With the guidance of the Head Chef and Assistant Chef, prepare daily menu items and provide leadership in daily kitchen operations.

Education/Skills Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. required. Culinary Arts degree preferred or 5 years progressive cooking experience required. Knowledge of: federal, state and local health, sanitation and safety guidelines related to the operation of a kitchen; quality taste standards for menu and catering; menu, food labeling, and recipe ingredients as they relate to special dietary needs and requests.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

A valid Driver’s License and the ability to meet the eligibility requirements of the College’s current Motor Vehicle Use Policy. Serve Safe Certification. Demonstrated understanding of quality cooking techniques and their application in catering and/or institutional settings.

Standard Work Days and Hours

Varying shifts including frequent overtime, weekends, holidays and during weather emergencies. Required to work during major college events and weekends.
