Job Summary

This faculty position is in the Automotive Technology program within the Industrial Technology division. The faculty member is expected to possess advanced level knowledge in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles and light trucks. The faculty member will carry a teaching load in a variety of areas such as chassis systems, electrical/electronics, engine performance, power train, and climate control systems.

This position is on the main campus in Overland Park, KS and starts on August 16, 2021 (pending grant funding).

Required Qualifications

-Associate's degree and five years full-time experience as an automobile technician OR
Bachelor's degree and three years full-time experience as an automobile technician
-Current ASE certification in G1, A1-A8 or OEM equivalent - maintaining ASE credentials are required for job retention. ASE L1 required to teach Engine Performance.
-Previous teaching experience in Automotive Technology at the secondary, post-secondary, or OEM Training Centers; part-time or full-time.
-Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with a wide variety of academic departments on campus.
-Establish and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national industrial partners.
-Demonstrate a strong ability and competence in the assigned subject matter.
-Demonstrate the adoption and integration of new technologies into the classroom and laboratory settings.
-Demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to the teaching mission of a comprehensive community college.
-Positive team player with leadership and project management skills, and participation beyond the instructional time with students.
-Exhibit a commitment and concern for global perspectives and the diversity efforts of the department, division, and college.
-Ability to pass a background check with a motor vehicle record search

Preferred Qualifications

-Experience in using Learning Management Systems (e.g. Canvas)
-Curriculum development and course design experience
-Create and contribute to in-class and out-of-class educational experiences such as field trips, tours, and training events
