Job Summary
The associate provost for undergraduate studies assists the provost in providing oversight for undergraduate academic programs and initiatives for the university. This position works with faculty and deans to develop new academic programs, improve current programs and expand experiential learning programs, including system-wide internship, military and veteran and study abroad initiatives for undergraduate students.

Academic Leadership
Teaching and Learning
- Oversees undergraduate faculty development in curricular and experiential learning agendas
- Collaborates with other administrative offices to ensure effective implementation of new undergraduate recruiting, admission and retention processes and ongoing improvement of established procedures
- Promotes strategic collaboration and innovation of academic support units for undergraduate education and experiential learning
- Manages and promotes the academic honesty program for undergraduate students and collaborates with appropriate offices to address student grade disputes
- Coordinates transfer agreement efforts with identified community colleges
Leadership and Strategic Thinking
- Proposes and implements policy changes that promote the university mission, with emphasis on academic excellence and matters of diversity, equity and inclusion
- Works with the provost and Institutional Effectiveness to administer academic program review process for undergraduate programs
- Collaborates on strategic plans for increasing student participation in experiential learning; fostering transfers to Lindenwood University; enhancing veterans’ services; promoting internationalization of campus; and endorsing enrollment management efforts
- Promotes interdisciplinary initiatives and innovative curriculum to prepare students for 21st century citizenship and leadership
- Serves on university committees, including the Executive Academic Strategies Team and the Deans’ Council (non-voting member); acts as an administrative liaison to university committees as applicable
Service

- Monitors and promotes faculty engagement
- Models, supports and holds others accountable to the university’s values – integrity, dedication, excellence, creativity and teamwork
- Recruits, interviews, recommends, welcomes, observes and monitors performance of new employees
- Sets clear performance expectations and holds employees accountable for actions
- Conducts thorough and timely performance evaluations based on evidence, observation and feedback
Administrative Duties
- Assists in evaluating data on academic program performance and identifying potential avenues for collaboration and program innovation
- Ensures consistent and accurate implementation and enforcement of undergraduate academic policies, including academic integrity policy; investigates academic policy-related issues as requested by the president, provost, academic deans or other administrators
- Approves policy exemptions and other possible exceptions to established academic rules as appropriate
Communication and Collaboration
- Analyzes and summarizes relevant data and makes recommendations
- Communicates undergraduate academic policy changes to all stakeholders
- Supports the mission of the university and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence

- Demonstrates command of area of specialization, as well as desire for continued growth
- Maintains professional relationships with colleagues and engages in professional development activities to augment existing skills or develop new ones

Required Qualifications – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.
- Terminal degree
- Previous experience both as a faculty member and in academic administration
- Prior work experience with academic policies and procedures in a university setting
