The Digital Media program in the Information and Logistics Technology Department is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure-track professor at any rank. The appointment begins September 1, 2021.

Tenure-track professors have three areas of responsibility: scholarship (which includes research, grant-writing, creative activity, and scholarly interaction) teaching, and professional service. About half of a tenure-track professor’s responsibility is devoted to scholarship while the remainder of the assignment involves teaching and professional service. Service responsibilities at UH include assisting in the development and refinement of the Digital Media program and its courses; serving on program, departmental, college, and university committees; and participating in local and national, and international professional groups in the name of the university.

The University of Houston is a Tier One Research University; thus, UH is looking for an outstanding candidate who will conduct research and contribute to a nationally competitive externally-funded research program at the University of Houston. Successful applicants will have educational and employment history in one or more of these areas of specialization: print, packaging, eMedia, eCommerce, motion media, app design, or simulation and gaming. Recent graduates of terminal degree programs are encouraged to apply. The department is seeking outstanding candidates with the potential for exceptional research, excellence in teaching, and a clear commitment to enhancing the diversity of the faculty, graduate, and undergraduate student population.

Digital media is the creative convergence of digital arts, science, technology, and business for human expression, communication, social interaction, and education. The Digital Media program is characterized by a curriculum which stresses the “producer” and “strategist” sides of digital media and emphasizes the business aspect of the field along with its technical, scientific, and aesthetic aspects.

The Digital Media undergraduate program in the Information and Logistics Technology Department at The University of Houston has experienced steady growth in student enrollment. The program is accredited by the Accrediting Council of Collegiate Graphic Communications (ACCGC) and serves approximately 500 undergraduate students. A master’s-level graduate program is under construction. Additional information is available online at: http://uh.edu/tech/digitalmedia/

The Digital Media program is headquartered on the University’s satellite campus in Sugar Land, Texas. See sugarlandtx.gov for more information about this thriving and affordable city.
