Loyola University Chicago’s ( LUC ) School of Environmental Sustainability ( SES ) and Quinlan School of Business ( QSB ) invites applications for a 50/50 jointly appointed full-time, tenure-track endowed position at the as Assistant Professor/Advanced Assistant Professor, beginning fall 2021. SES and QSB are strong partners in cross-school curricular development and research, and this position will further strengthen the interdisciplinary research team in environmental economics. The successful candidate is expected to develop a nationally renowned research program that leads to high quality journal publications with a focus on environmental, ecological and public economics. Teaching responsibilities shall include two courses per semester, including ecological economics and public economics. Furthermore, the successful candidate is expected to collaborate with current faculty in interdisciplinary research, strengthen connections across SES and QSB, and secure external funding.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in economics, agricultural economics, applied economics, ecological economics, resource economics, public policy, or a closely related field, an active research agenda addressing contemporary complex and interrelated economic, social and environmental problems, and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. The candidate will work across disciplinary lines, bridging environmental science and economics scholarship in a research university setting. Evidence of interdisciplinary research or demonstrated recognition of the role coupled human and natural systems have in social welfare or socioeconomic outcomes is desirable. Experience overcoming or helping others overcome barriers to degree completion or an academic career is also desirable. Our preferred candidate will conduct empirical research on topics relevant to ecological and public economics. The candidate must share Loyola University Chicago’s Jesuit commitment to social justice, care for our common home, and walking with the excluded, ideally evidenced through their research, teaching and/or service. Candidates for the position should have a record of or clear potential for distinguished scholarship, external research funding, and student mentorship.
