Mission or Goal of Unit
The mission of the Department of Pharmacotherapy and Outcomes Science is to educate professional Pharm.D. and graduate students and to conduct research on medication use that will result in the advancement of the profession and improvements in the quality of health care. The Department provides Pharm.D. and graduate students with courses and research experiences that prepare them for their professional careers. The Department is committed to enhance diversity among its faculty, staff, and students. Finally, Department faculty have a responsibility to provide service to their profession and to the university community.
Chief purpose of this position in support of above mission or goal
VCU School of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacotherapy and Outcomes Science enthusiastically invites you to apply for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position in Adult Medicine at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The incumbent will coordinate courses and teach in the Pharmacotherapeutics course modules, Foundations of Pharmacy Practice Laboratory course sequence. While teaching students during their Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences the incumbent will provide clinical services in Adult Internal Medicine at VCU Health System. In addition, this position includes developing, implementing and teaching instructional courses related to contemporary professional pharmacy practice.
Position Responsibilities
Teaching
Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities in numerous courses associated with the Clinical Therapeutics Modules, the Pharmaceutical Care Foundations Labs, and other courses that fall within the candidate’s Adult Medicine pharmacy practice.
Research
Faculty member will contribute to the scholarship mission of the School of Pharmacy by publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts and conducting patient-oriented or outcomes research in health-system pharmacy.
Service
Faculty member will serve on departmental, School, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field (e.g., reviewer, conference organizer, etc.).
Clinical
The faculty member will provide clinical pharmacy services in Adult Internal Medicine to the VCU Health System.
Required Qualifications
• Doctor of Pharmacy Degree or equivalent, PGY -2 residency training or equivalent practice experience in Adult Internal Medicine.
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU .
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Pharmacist licensure or eligibility for licensure in Virginia.
Preferred Qualifications
• Classroom and/or experiential teaching experience.
