Job Summary

The Director of Application Development leads multiple innovative teams to design and implement custom software applications and integrations that support and advance Tarrant County College’s mission. Working with the Executive Director of IT Systems, fellow leadership and direct reports, the incumbent leads multiple groups of front end and back end application developers, establishes technical patterns and best practices, and matures the application development and integration programs to deliver quality software applications, software components, and consulting services within the college.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for directing the Integration Services activities and functions
• Oversees college’s Enterprise Resource Planning system administration, maintenance and upgrades
• Oversees college’s reporting and analytics platforms administration, maintenance, and upgrades
• Develops Integration, Workflow, Programming, and ERP administration technical staff
• Establishes reliable vendor relationships and escalation processes
• Participates in IT related integrations technical analysis functions
• Assist in the research, implementation and monitoring of technology directions and best practices
• Defines the principles, guidelines, standards and patterns to ensure solution decisions are aligned with the enterprise’s future-state architecture vision
• Manages and provides appropriate leadership and technical support to staff through delegation, support and evaluation to meet overall business objectives
• Reviews IT project requests, coordinates schedules, related department activities and resource requirements
• Works with other management to assess and determine priorities
• Reviews, recommends and justifies the selection of new products and services
• Provide overall direction and guidance to staff in the design, development and maintenance of relevant products, programs, and services
• Responsible for functions related to recruiting and hiring
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions
• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
• Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in IT solution development disciplines, including application development, integrations/middleware, technical database management or cloud development

Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Good working knowledge of common integration topologies
• Proven experience in implementing and delivering large scale applications and/or integrations
• Excellent knowledge of building/supporting high performance Web Services, driven data exchange, and delivery services
• Knowledge of Azure computing and Laserfiche development environments
• Proven leadership, organizational and planning skills

• Ability to understand existing systems, emerging technologies, and best practices in applying procedures, tools, and methods
• Ability to plan and manage concurrent tasks, assignments, projects, and deadlines
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
