EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP- COMMUNITY COLLEGE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

 

JOB SUMMARY: The Department of Educational Leadership (EDLD) at New Jersey City University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, assistant/associate professor position in Community College Leadership beginning September 2021 semester. The Ed.D. in Community College Leadership is a newly launched online program with one-week summer institute requirements that emphasizes developing leaders at all levels.  As a member of the Carnegie Project on the Educational Doctorate (CPED) consortium, the program heavily emphasizes scholarly practice and is committed to promoting social justice and equity.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, a passion for the community college mission, a commitment to support student achievement of program outcomes, and be dedicated to promoting social justice and equity.  Candidates will engage in effective and innovative online teaching practices, curriculum development, scholarship, service, advising, and marketing and recruitment efforts.  This position will also involve serving on and chairing dissertation committees and coordinating the experiential learning component of the program.   The position may also include Graduate Coordinator and/or Department Chairperson duties.

 

Strong candidates will have significant experience in community college leadership, evidence of high-quality online teaching at the graduate level, a strong history of mentoring students, especially through the dissertation process, have a track record of academic and public scholarship, and be committed to increasing the diversity of future community college leaders. 

 

EDUCATION:  Candidates should have an earned terminal degree relating to the field of educational leadership, administration, policy or related field of study/discipline. In very extraordinary cases, as determined by the University, the requirement of a doctorate or terminal degree may not be necessary.

 

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: Minimum 5 years of recent community college leadership experience. Graduate teaching experience at an accredited institution. Experience serving on dissertation committees. Experience coordinating experiential learning or similar programs. Program assessment experience. Scholarship that includes published works in refereed journals and presentations at national and local conferences
